【タイトル】International Medical Writing Associations - What are the Benefits of Participation for Translators and Editors Based in Japan
米国メディカルライター協会（AMWA）と欧州メディカルライター協会（EMWA）をご存知ですか？AMWAにはself-study modulesという医薬翻訳者にも推奨される自主学習用教材があります。AMWAでは会員を「バイオメディカルコミュニケーター」と定義し、その中には、アドミニストレーター、アドバタイザー、ジャーナルエディター、ファーマシューティカルライターやトランスレーター等も含まれています。教育、製薬、出版、フリーランサーと異業種メンバーで構成される米国・欧州両団体とも現地ワークショップに参加経験があるHenry Smith氏が、両団体の比較・展望、翻訳者が国際的団体の会員になることの利点等を説明します！また、現地トレーニングレベルの模擬エクササイズを体験してみましょう。（グループワークですのでお気軽にご参加くださいね）
*講義は原則英語で行われますが、質疑応答は日本語でも構いません。
【登壇者プロフィールと概要】
Henry Smith has been a Japanese-to-English pharmaceutical translator for 13 years.
Originally from the London in the UK, where he worked in Informational Technology, he started working in the report writing of non-clinical CRO shortly after coming to Japan. Since 2016, he has been a freelance translator and medical editor. He has also been teaching Medical English to graduate and undergraduate veterinary students at Kagoshima University since 2013 as a visiting professor.
He is a member of both the American (AMWA) and European (EMWA) Medical Writers Associations, attending conferences in both the United States and Europe and obtaining certificates related to medical writing for drug development in the AMWA and EMWA programs.
He will deliver a talk on International Medical Writing Associations - What are the Benefits of Participation for Translators and Editors Based in Japan?
The themes to be covered in the talk will include (time permitting)

【トピック】ジュリア先生と学ぶ医療通訳 No.1～循環器～
【概要】 初回は、医薬翻訳者にとっても需要の多い「循環器」をトピックに選びました。
医療通訳教育の第一人者ジュリア先生のオリジナル・スクリプトを使用します。問診票からスタートする日本や海外の現場を再現したロールプレイを中心に進める参加型のワークショップです。
★質疑応答も含めながら自由な雰囲気で進行しますが、「通訳は初めて」という医薬翻訳者、「通訳の経験はあるけど医療の知識は…」という専門外の方々のために、当日の疾患に関連したミニ知識、通訳技術用語の解説など、事前に予習資料を作成してデータ配付。
